Drinklytes Study Shows Competition in Hangover Prevention

Whether we’re enjoying one glass of wine after a long day of work or drinking our weight in jello shots at the bar with our friends, most of us have experienced the awful symptoms of a hangover. According to a study done by the University of Missouri-Columbia, researchers found that out of “1,230 college students, the most common hangover symptoms were feeling extremely thirsty or dehydrated, feeling more tired than usual, headache, nausea, and vomiting. Luckily, the rise of hydration products has been on the rise in the last few years and making its way into consumers’ hands. Drinklyte has been one of the newest hydration products on the market this last year, making its way through Liquid I.V., Cheers Health, and other popular competitors. Its advantage? A formula created not only for those who like to drink alcohol but specifically made to safely rehydrate our body’s after a night of drinking during chronic dehydration.

Unlike its competitors, Drinklyte takes a unique approach in order to rehydrate consumers’. We pride ourselves in never adding any unnecessary ingredients such as caffeine, vitamins, or chemicals that would get in the way of what matters, which is the Oral Hydration Solution. Drinklyte is the only hangover product using the ORS backed by the World Health Organization to rehydrate consumers using the electrolytes in the formula. We also differ in hydrating in two steps: the first step, Moonlyte, is taken after drinking, before bed. The second step, Sunlyte, is taken upon waking up the next morning. Consuming the hydration formula twice instead of only once significantly increases the body’s level of recovery from the dehydration caused by alcohol that was ingested. “According to Hydralyte, for every standard drink you consume (10 mg of pure alcohol), you are likely to urinate 100 ml more than you drink, leading to dehydration. In addition, excess consumption of alcohol can also result in vomiting, which further depletes the body of much needed fluid and heightens the risk of further dehydration.” By consuming Drinklyte, the chance of having those dreaded familiar hangover symptoms significantly lowers.

In Drinklyte’s study, we found that out of 119 participants consumption:

12 people had 1-2 drinks

70 people had 3-5 drinks

26 people had 6-8 drinks

  5 people had 8+ drinks

(*The last six participants consumed 0 alcoholic beverages before testing the product).

After testing the effectiveness of Drinklyte, it was shown that 83.1% of participants reported a noticeable change in how they felt and another 13.6% reported a possible, but unsure change. While these numbers may not reflect the highest of success, one important factor to consider is that not all participants used both Moonlyte and Sunlyte. 11.8% of the 119 consumers used either Moonlyte or Sunlyte while testing, but not both as instructed in the package.

Overall, consumers are interested in finding new products that are different than the basic hydration products, sharing recommendations:

“Tasted much better than the Liquid I.V. / Pedialyte options out there. I would definitely recommend it to my friends!”

“I really enjoyed DrinkLyte, I woke up feeling better and was able to continue my day better than I would have expected had I not drank DrinkLyte the night before and the next morning. I definitely recommend it for anyone who is going to have a night out and wants to be able to wake up feeling ready to go for the day.”

While it may be one more step for consumers to take, Drinklyte is also a product that is one of a kind in many different ways. Our mission is to rehydrate our customers quickly, naturally, and safely after drinking (however much that may be) so that all they have to worry about is in being their best self and living a fun and active lifestyle every day.
